Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has disclosed that 80 percent of pipeline vandalism carried out in oil producing areas of the country happened in the state.Okowa, while addressing journalists at the first edition of the 2017 quarterly media briefing in Asaba, said that as a result, many pipelines are broken and crude cannot be exported for sale.
The Governor, who explained that roads are now been constructed in the riverine said that although it’s costlier to build roads for the oil zones of Delta State, it was very important to pay them serious developmental attention.
He listed some of the roads as Okerenkoko beach road, Burutu-Ay-akromo 18. 9 kilometre road abandoned by Shell about 30 years, and Opo¬roza township road.
He also indicated that he would be spending more time in the riverine, oil zones of the state in 2017.
In order to achieve this, Okowa told journalists that the Government House lodge at Warri, rumored to have been abandoned by the Governor, has been receiving lots of attention lately and would soon be in top shape.
