The sultan of Sokoto Abubakar Sa’ad wants a government to deal decisively with those who incite others either to carry arms or kill in the name of religion.
The sultan was speaking in Abuja at an interreligious forum organized by KAICIID, an intergovernmental organization that promotes understanding and cooperation between people of different cultures and religions.
The sultan, as well as the representative of KAICIID, agreed that religion should be a basis for mutual understanding and not for the creation of violence.
KAICIID was founded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Spain, Austria and the see, Rome is a founding observer.
The center brings religious leaders and policy makers together for the purpose of realizing sustainable peace across the globe.
The theme of the 2017 conference is “achieving inclusive and sustainable interreligious dialogue in Nigeria”.
