Defending Champions Knocked Out: AFCON 2017

Two days after host Gabon was shown the way out of the 2017 Africa cup of nations, defending champions, Cote d’Ivoire have been knocked out after their one nil loss to morocco in their final group match.

Rachid Alioui scored the only goal from about twenty-three meters to send morocco to the quarter-finals.

The Ivorians needed a win to go through after playing a draw in their first two matches of the group stage.

The atlas lions will play the winner of group d in the last eight on Sunday.

Dr. Congo is also through after finishing top from group c.

They beat Togo 3-1 to qualify.

The final group games will take place this Wednesday with Ghana, who are already through tackling Egypt in group d.

The black stars will be playing to maintain a one hundred percent record while the pharoahs of Egypt will be okay with a draw to send them to the last eight.

The other group d match is between Uganda and Mali.

While Uganda search for their first point of the tournament, Mali will be hoping to get all three points to stand a chance of progressing should Egypt fail to get a point against Ghana.
